Bar Coding

Bar coding adds reliability, time savings, ease of use, and convenience to CRIS Location Tracking, at an affordable price. Chart tracking becomes faster and easier than you'd think possible. Bar codes can be read from preprinted folders, or labels can be printed from CRIS.

Why utilize bar coding?

Chart Tracking becomes quick and easy....

"Wand" the medical record bar code label, and the location bar code. That's all that's needed - the chart is signed out.
To return charts, "Wand" the medical record bar code label. That's all that's needed!
Bar code labels can be created quickly and easily - simply press a function key while the chart is highlighted in CRIS.
Bar code labels include a bar code for the medical record number and/or a discharge date or volume number. The number and the patient name print on the bar code label to assure accurate placement on the chart.
Portable wands (the size of a fat fountain pen) can be taken to where the charts are. After up to several hundred charts have been "wanded", bring the portable wand back to CRIS. Put the wand in the "ink well" and with several keystrokes all the charts are signed out or signed in. You may use several portable wands with the same datawell.

Bar coding is easy to Setup and Utilize

The bar code equipment can be installed in a few minutes. It simply plugs in - nothing to install inside the computer.
It takes only several minutes to learn how to "wand". The functions mimic what you already do manually, thus there is very little new to learn in CRIS.
